Join eminent kitchen designer Elizabeth Spengler for this enticing small group excursion
to southern France for an immersion into the local cuisine at the Seasons of Provence
Cooking School while visiting markets and delightful towns and villages. Classes and
recipes are in English and all levels of cooking experience are welcome. Just bring your
enthusiasm and comfortable clothes, the cost covers everything except airfare to and
from Paris and the high speed train (TGV) from CDG airport or Gare de Lyon in central
Paris to Avignon TGV station.
The itinerary we have arranged for you in Provence is as follows: |

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
Rendezvous mid-afternoon at Avignon TGV station from where you will transfer by minivan
to Mas de Cornud, a beautifully restored 18th century Provençal stone farmhouse, complete
with pool, Jacuzzi and indoor and outdoor professional teaching kitchens. Orientation walk in
Saint Rémy where Nostradamus was born in 1503. Aperitifs and dinner with your hosts, the
Carpitas. Nitockrees (“Nito”) has dual nationality, France and Egypt. David is a well travelled
American with a passion for wine and the life and art of Vincent Van Gogh.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
Depart for the delightful weekly market at Isle-sur-la Sorgue, the “Venice of Provence” because
of its many canals with waterwheels still working away. Besides the food market, you
will have a chance to visit the many galleries with antiques and bric a brac as well as the flea
market on the street. After a casual lunch, we return to Mas de Cornud for an afternoon cooking
class and dinner.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
The day starts with a pastry class, from savory to sweet. Light lunch. Visit to the asylum in
Saint Rémy where Vincent Van Gogh spent a year and painted many of his best works ending
in the town center where we visit epicurean specialty stores. Aperitifs and dinner at Mas de
Cornud.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
Early departure to be on hand for the milking session at a goat farm. We follow the farmers
from the milking shed to their immaculate fromagerie where
we observe the cheese making process and learn about affinage,
Visit to an organic olive oil mill. Pool side lunch and then an afternoon cooking
class using the outdoor kitchen, followed by dinner.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
We accompany Nito to Saint Rémy, where you will shop with her and then have free time in
this wonderful farmer’s market with its stalls of colorful spices, vegetables, fruits, soaps, fabrics
and handicrafts. After a market basket lunch and siesta, we gather in the well appointed
teaching kitchen for a hands-on cooking class. Before enjoying the fruits of our labor, David
will plunge us further into “la vie Provençale” with
a game of pétanque on the bouledrome while
we sip pastis and glasses of rosé.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
We ascend a winding road to the fabled castle of Les Baux, a “must see” village steeped in the
history of the feudal era of Provence. Wine tasting and casual lunch . In the afternoon we will
have a cooking class followed by aperitifs and our farewell dinner.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Breakfast and transfer to theAvignon TGV station for your departure.
